This is a Confederate sack coat pattern that is child sized. This military looking sack coat will look like it came from home. The coat is made out of jean wool. The lining is made out of muslin, Osnaburg or homespun fabric. The collar is the basic stand up military style collar. There is one outside pocket on the coat. The four buttonholes are sewn by hand. If you want an authentic looking sack coat for your child, then this is the coat for you. The jacket comes with bone buttons for an added authenticy.
I have decided to make my kids garments out of the same fabric and with the same details as my adult garments. The market price per yard of jean wool is the same no matter what size garments are made from it. The Confederate Depots did not make garments for boys. So any military garments for young kids were made elsewhere. I make them close to an adult garment without being a copy.
